Nicaragua Finca Montecristo is our first Nicaraguan coffee release. This coffee is considered a micro-lot single origin coffee, meaning that it comes to us from a single farm and plot of land. Specifically, a 3.8 hectacre farm owned by Gustavo Emilio Nuñez Ortez.
Expect a rich, velvety dark chocolate backbone with subtle notes of cherry. As an espresso, you will experience a rich chocolatey shot, with a nice thick crema with flavor akin to a cherry cordial.

In 2012, the Nuñez Ortez bought the farm in lots from 5 different producers and began growing coffee accompanied by trees and live and dead barriers to restore the farm's environment. Currently, the farm is rich in biodiversity of fauna and floristic species. The focus is to harvest the farm in an eco-friendly way, so ecoforestry coffee is produced on the farm.The farm is located in the protected area Serranias Dipilto - Jalapa. Both the owner of this farm and other neighboring producers are concerned about the conservation of the ecozone, microclimate, and environment of the area. The farm is trying to provide an ecotourism approach, because it has scenic beauty, including views of the volcanic chain of the Pacific of Nicaragua, plus proximity to visit other tourist attractions within the ecozone.

What's the turnaround time for coffee orders?
Coffee is typically roasted on Mondays and shipped out the next day following QC. It is possible that your coffee is deemed fresh enough to ship if I have any roasted stock and shipped out soon after ordering. e.g. an order is placed on Thursday and I still have some of that coffee that was roasted on Monday, then I may be able to ship right away.
What shipping options do you offer?
We offer flat rate shipping of $5 for all orders under $50.
You can also choose free local delivery if you live in the 29609 or 29601 zip code. You will automatically see this option at checkout if you qualify.
Finally, you can pick up your order for free at 400 Birnie St every Thursday from 4-6pm.

Do I qualify for free local delivery?
I'm happy to offer free local delivery to all addresses in the 29609 and 29601 zip code. If your shipping address qualifies at checkout, you will automatically see this as an option, along with a time range of when to expect your delivery.
How does local pick up work?
Local pick-up is available at the lab on Thursdays from 4-6PM by appointment only. This option is for online orders placed in advance. I will notify you by email that your order is ready for pick-up, with exact access instructions. The location is 400 Birnie St, Greenville, SC 29611.
